It is sad to know there are people out there like this. I guess it is just one more way Satan trys to take advantage of the rightouse ones. How dear they use God in their emails. They will have to aswere one day for their transgressions. I hope that most people realize that when something looks to good to be true, it probably is. Never ship anything without an authorized payment. I think they are hoping one vendor is stupid, like them.

The name of the store, Simply Great Stores, the freight companies website, could not find anything. I knew something was fishy when I asked questions and she would not answer them. In her letters she was willing to pay throught paypal and have the items shipped in the mail. Then I decided to do some research and was brought here. Is she a scammer? She mentioned no freight company.

DeleteHeidi, here's how I understand the scam works... the "customer" gives you their preferred shipper's name and asks you to charge the order AND the shipping fee to their credit card and you pay the shipper out of those funds. So, you pay the shipper in "cash" (most likely thru a bank wire transfer) and then they all disappear. Later, you discover that the credit card was stolen, the bank refuses to pay the credit card charge or if you have already run the card, they will take the money back, potentially leaving you and your company holding the bag for not only the large product order, but for the money paid to the shipper (which was their goal in the first place). A way to shut them down or determine if they're legit or not, is to clearly state that you will only use acceptable shippers such as FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL, etc. You will find that they will suddenly decide the don't want the order or may just stop contacting you altogether. After all, if they have the funds to pay you/us directly for any shipping costs, then they have the funds to pay their OWN preferred shipping company. -Michael

Just as the post above, she wanted to use her shipper (acfreightllc@gamil.com) and gave her us her Customer ID # of QP34572955J, which is funny because it closely matches the ID # (QP34572906J) of another "customer" who wanted us to use their freight company. This other customer is Mr. and Mrs. George (or Lucy George) from Austria. Their "soon-to-be store" will be called Lucy & Lund Merchandise Store with an address in Wien, Austria. They're using the email addresses of lucy-george1@hotmail.com and lucy-georgestore@hotmail.com. Their freight forwarder is mty.cargoservice@gmail.com. Please be careful! -Michael

DeleteIn addition to my post above, be on the lookout for a Bruce Moore (brumoore50@gamil.com) his "company" Hans Company Ltd, and his freight company Global Air Freight Ltd (globalairfreight@aol.com and operation.gaf@live.com). The freight company seems to be using several employee names (Gary William, Mary Finn, and John Liam). Can't seem to find any info useful info on the freight company. When I Google Map the location it comes up as an empty lot in some trailer park in FL. And none of the phone numbers Bruce provided worked. We called our Merchant Service provider who put us in touch with the credit card company Bruce had used. While the card number and address matched, the cardholder's name and phone number did not match! -Michael

What really got me was her e-mail address- its an yahoo.com address & although not true for all, I figured if she has the funds to purchase $2000+ of my product (not including shipping) then she should also have a legit & professional business e-mail address.
Secondly, the titles of the e-mails were a bit 'pushy' & unprofessional (i.e: Read & Respond ASAP & Details NOW!!). I know that business folk can be pushy, but this was a little fishy to me.
Long story short, I'm happy that I listened to my gut & that I found this site!!!

The hint that something was not right was their use of free emails like gmail. What company uses free email? This scam wasted our time in putting the order and invoice together.
After I going more research on Google I found your website blog and see the same email and see this was all a scam.

Anywhoo, I wrote "her" back two days ago, excited..I will say, even though it sounded legit in moment...the ONE THING POPPED OUT at my eyes, in the hurry of it all. "GOD BLESS YOU" Who the hell writes that way? I will tell you, priests, nuns, and THIEVES, that' who!
Here is another kicker: I came up with a way using a COUPON just for "her" to get approx. 50%... SHE never mentioned a wholesaler's price! Who doesn't ask for a wholesalers price? From small businees to big business, if it is a store wanting to seel YOUR products, they will indeed ask for a wholesalers price...AND BEFORE they are ready to hand you their card! There was also: too much fluff about "lovely products" and "for my numerous customers"...MY STORY is a bit different with this as well: The only main product with pics and pay buttons are the balms.."she" was willing to order the other 4 products without a picture or pay button yet. Who does this? A priest, nun, or thief , that's who! Either they are trusting, or thieving! Period! PS, for the person whom wrote about a ligit business NEVER suing free email like gmail: YOU are wrong, I am totally ligit and rising, and I use anything free that works, plus I love gmail, with the calendar that you can share between gmail accounts, 'tis fab! I thought it seemed a little odd, but figured I would send a formal response. I asked for details about her company, stated my terms for international shipping, etc. I just received a reply, subject line: "MY ORDER/READ AND REPLY BACK ASAP TODAY" - that in and of itself seemed odd - with a list of my products she wanted to buy, 200 of each card (making this a very large order for me - nearly $10k. She also wrote: "Thanks for your reply back.I can't wait to have your lovely products in our store for my customers.Below listed is the items i want to order for and will want you to get back to me with total cost +shipping cost and i can provide you my credit card for you to charge and have my order ready and i can carry your product in our new inventory for our numerous customers."
She provides no details about her shop, as I requested, and provides the following address:

I didn't buy the 'God bless you' messages. They sounded so insincere. I think he/she is the dumbest scammer I've ever known. A good scammer ensures that he/she never sounds fake......and never changes the address. Lol. That's what led me here.

DeleteI just received a request for product. The email seemed suspect so I did an IP check on it - it is originating from Nigeria. They are using the name Kathy Kaly and the same shipping address as you have.
DeleteGoogling the originating IP (X-EN-OrigIP: 41.184.112.234 - Nigeria) also indicated "Claire/Kathy/?" is doing the "romance scam" - where they use dating sites and social networking to message with strangers. Very quickly they start gushing that they are in love with you and want to come meet you, then they ask the victim to send them plane fare. Then they disappear. I know someone who was targeted this way. Thankfully, he figured out that it was a scam pretty quickly.

I received email about ordering thru my website. Do I do international shipping and can they use credit card. I did reply back that I use PayPal which accepts cards and that give me 7-14 days to set up international shipping thru PayPal.

what tipped me off to Kathy was the pushy, demanding email subject lines. REPLY NOW! and ASAP. It just didn't add up, by the time they paid for shipping, they'd be selling a $100 jar of cream. Stupid.

Which I ignored. When "customers" start "God blessing" you, question it. And, "GOOGLE Map" the address given. Might turn out to be an empty lot in Melbourne, Australia. Did not check her 'current' address.
Many years ago we did respond to an early scam and shipped a large box of hand lotion to Nigeria. We didn't get paid for it. BUT... many months later, the shipment returned to out doorstep! A battered box, but the product was still OK! Don't know if the scammer made money; cost us around $100 in postage.
Moral: use PayPal and legitimate shipping companies. Or wire or bank money transfers but NOT to your account. If "they" have to pay with 'real money' - not a card, that will stop them cold. And don't spend time figuring up a cost, etc. Give them a dummy cost number and they may proceed with that.

Got the same e-mails and then Credit Card numbers. I checked with my payment processing company and found that the 3 digit security code could not be validated. By this time we had already charged the card and packed the order. I am glad we did a little more research and found it to be a scam. We have now canceled the order and refunded the card. All of our staff have been advised to look for these kinds of e-mails.

She placed an order for a total of 100 candles from me, thank God I googled her name in the "netherlands" because it all didn't seem write. BEWARE!

I checked the credit card info and everything was good except the name on the account. I am on hold at the time of this post to notify the bank (Chase) that the owner of the card needs to be notified immediately. The email from the shipper stated that they were in the UK, but their website listed their location as Mumbai, India. The shipping company has their own website, but the contact used a gmail account. Also, Kathy Thompson's email, in HTML, was kathy.kaly@yahoo.com Her IP address is in Sunnyvale, CA.

Got the same email from Carrie Holmes who place a ridiculously large (and heavy) candle order. I know it's a scam, but I thought I would play along for awhile and bill her for retail and full shipping, which is going to be enormous.

Who would order this many products without requesting samples or a wholesale price? One day I really will get large orders from stores around the world - and they will be legit!

I have gotten the same email from Carrie Holmes with a list of what she wants. I have written her back 3 times and told her I do not accept cc's it must go thru paypal and she keeps ignoring that part and sending me what she wants. Same wording as yours above!

It was the same inital email that I received from Carrie except they are now asking about shipping to Spain instead of Amsterdam. This is ridiculous.

I did send back an order quote, but have a feeling I'm going to receive the same type of reply as stated above.

When I emailed her shipper to get the quote (ALLPORTFREIGHTLLC@GMAIL.COM) it was answered by Wayne Neville. Is there any sort of law enforcement we can file a report to that can go after these people? They seem to just be going after smaller businesses....Thanks everyone here for posting.

She contacted me a week later with a fairly large order for my hand made soaps and candles, asking for a quote for the product and shipping. The day after she received the quote she e-mailed back and said she wanted to double the order. I gave her another quote yesterday and have not heard back.

Same line from Deborah Vincent wanting to place a large order from my website. I found it interesting that she/he/whatever never asked for a wholesale price list, samples, or anything of the sort. When I Googled her address and did a street view from satellite her "store" was no where to be found. As with all scams it appears everything needs to be accomplished ASAP, and I suspect it's because they use stolen credit cards, or hacked PayPal accounts.

I must be getting scammed too. I've been getting emails from Carrie Holmes for the last couple weeks. I'm a very small home busisness, and spent all day yesterday putting an e-catalog together for Carrie. I'm so disappointed to find out that this is a scam. Thank you for this blog spot. I could have been out a lot of money as well as time!

We started receiving emails the other day from Carrie Holmes and thankfully I found this blog.
ReplyDeleteI received the same message and went as far as getting a shipping quote (absurd amount) from her "private shipper". I've since reported this to BigCartel who hosts my shop site. Please report the emails along with the sender's information to whoever hosts your shop site and they will investigate this.
ReplyDeleteJust check the originating IP of the email in the header. It will provide the general area where the email was sent.

I already found this highly suspicious, seriously, nobody talks like that when placing an order, decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and I replied back saying I will ship internationally just for her.

Please stay alert, always trust your gut feeling, the moment you feel there's something wrong, even at the slightest thing, stay away. Don't risk your safety for the sake of money.
Yup! Carrie is at it again! Glad I read this blog. I went through the trouble of weighing all the products for our natural beauty business and just suspected something fishy about the whole thing. It was a large order and it just didn't seem right that she wanted to pay retail to re-sell to her customers. The whole "God Bless You(Amen)" in her closing of the email was weird!

Wow, sooo glad I investigated this oddball order out of the Netherlands. Buyer identified herself as Melissa Adcock requesting a large order be shipped on her shipping account.

These jokers have major issues - still playing along.. refuses to use paypal or our site. To all business owners trust your instinct. What's really sad is that these people have no life. I got an email from Melissa Adcock asking if I took credit cards (I make and sell handmade soap) and so I responded back.
ReplyDeleteA week later, I received an email with an order for basically 44 of everything in my store. I knew right then and there that the email was crap, but I responded back with the total including shipping. Then yesterday I get this email:

The email actually sounded kind of legit, but what made me suspicious was their 'shipping company' having a gmail.com email. Should've been a company email address. So I searched the net and thankfully happened to come across your blog.
I will be responding back to my 'customer' with this link, so that they can see that their scam is posted on the internet and anyone with half a brain can google them and find out about their little operation they've got going.
Thank You So Much for posting this! There is no telling how many thousands of dollars you've saved people by letting it be known that these are scam artists. Keep the information going!
I just got an email from Melissa Adcock yesterday, and like you thought it sounded very legit. I am grateful for you all that have taken the time to share their stories, so that others may not fall into these traps. I think it is great that Ms. Floyd (the lady before this post) sent them a link to this site! Hopefully they will figure it out, and pack up their baloney. On the upside, it caused me to double check my shipping preferences on my website and I realized they were all out of whack and charging outrageous international shipping rates! So, if Lady Adcock has done anything good lately, she might have allowed me to get honest international customers.

We plan on pursuing this group or individuals for attempted illegal banking fraud, internet fraud and have tracked all her IP links. I hope this helps keep this scum from scamming someone perhaps even get it he/she behind bars.

Yes, I was contacted by Melissa Adcock,too. Sent her an invoice and knew that I would never hear back because I only ship with known carriers. Also had a similar e-mail from 'Carrie Holmes' to the Netherlands in April 2013. Once we quote real shipping with legitimate carriers, they never contact us again. So, no losses here but a waste of time.

Thanks to your blog, we didnt take the bait. Is there anyway these people could be shut down? According to what Iʻve seen, they have been doing this for four years!! Is there some sort of policing of the internet or a way to locate these awful people through an IP address or something? The red flag went up when I was asked to contact their shipping company that had a gmail address. Its very sick that they are preying on crafters and those of us who have small, homebased businesses. Let me know if you have any ideas how we could stop this from happening to others.

Based on what limited information is available on the internet regarding your countries customs requirements, it appears there should not be an issue with shipping goods to you. However, as stated in our terms of service, making sure that your order meets the requirements of your home country prior to order. In this case, it would be ultimately your responsibility to make sure that it would pass customs. I crunched the numbers for you, and it looks like it would be approximately $2,600.00 including shipping through UPS. Please let me know if you wish to proceed. ReplyDeleteThis person is still at large this time the alias is Melissa Adcock, with shipper Patrick Lawson. I continued their game for about a week and was impressed yet terrified that there maybe some people that do fall for this scam as they actually provided a valid credit card which allowed for a $1926 charge. I issued a refund before their claim could come through.

I just got this same exact email and was suspicious and did a search. At this point, my question is - Is there any chance this person is legit and just ordering a bunch of product for her store? I know its a long shot however possible? I have not gotten a request for alternative shipper. Maybe I will write back and quote a very high price and see what they say.

I am also a small business owner who was nearly scammed by "Melissa Adcock." Isn't there any way to start an investigation? This is a major, international fraud scheme they have going on, and has to violate all sorts of laws all over the place. I didn't hear back after requiring a scanned photocopy of the credit card plus ID before processing the order. Too many things weren't adding up. But I have to think there are many other small businesses who haven't been scammed enough to smell this one and I want to figure out how to stop them! There must be something we can do, isn't there?

I must admit that I got suspicious with the big order the please reply ASAP ... and the story about how (he or she) lives in a remote part of Rotterdam in the The Netherlands and has problems with deliveries. (He or she) asked me to send an email to their courier service with the dimensions, weight and insurable value of the parcel.
The email address of the "freight company" is

So, I got as far as sending the quote for the large order - and even sent the requested details to the "shipping company".
Like everyone else here - I got an uneasy feeling -- for same reasons - including the GOD BLESS YOU ... and even GOD BLESS YOU (Amen). I agree who says that stuff - thieves!!
Anyway - so I thought I should do some internet searching and started by using Google maps to find the address. Well, of course, it was not a business address -- it looked more like project housing building in Rotterdam, The Netherlands - so yes the address does exist.
Then, I tried to find the freight company - no luck, of course - but that search led me to this website.
I am so relieved -- if it was not for you guys here - I could easily have been part of an internet scam or worst still - taking payment from a stolen credit card.
Well - like they say - if it is too good to be true, it is too good to be true.
I wish there was something we could do about these scamsters ... I thought I was pretty good at ignoring them - but I nearly did get caught with this one!
Bit of an update - I checked the header of the email sent to me by Belinda Newman

ReplyDeleteTheir IP address is 197.210.248.38 which shows up in a search as Lagos, Nigeria. People beware and check any customer that will only use their terms for purchase and shipping!

ReplyDeleteI received an e-mail from deborah vincent in Switzerland ( deborahvincent.stores@hotmail.com ) today. When typing the name into Google, the stores Switzerland bit cam up first in the autocomplete and this was one of the first results found.

After checking who had sent me the e-mail, I found that it really came from Nigeria. I'm currently in two mind whether to ignore the scam e-mail completely or e-mail back giving them a lot of abuse. Things like this make me so angry.
